Der Verband DHd – „Digital Humanities im deutschsprachigen Raum“ –  wurde 2013 gegründet und versteht sich als Forum und formelle Interessenvertretung für alle, die sich im deutschsprachigen Raum in Forschung und Lehre – unabhängig von der Fachdisziplin – im Arbeitsbereich der Digital Humanities engagieren. Zur Zeit sind 440 Forscherinnen und Forscher Mitglied im DHd (Juli 2022).

DHd ist als Regionalverband assoziiert mit der European Association of Digital Humanities (EADH) und damit zugleich im internationalen Dachverband Alliance of Digital Humanities Organizations (ADHO) repräsentiert. Mitglieder von DHd sind zugleich Vollmitglieder von EADH: sie haben damit – ohne zusätzliche Gebühren – Anspruch auf alle entsprechenden Leistungen von EADH und ADHO.

The EADH brings together and represents the Digital Humanities in Europe across the entire spectrum of disciplines that research, develop, and apply digital humanities methods and technology. The EADH also supports the formation of DH interest groups in Europe that are defined by region, language, methodological focus or other criteria.

The European Association for Digital Humanities (EADH) was founded in 1973 under the name Association for Literary and Linguistic Computing (ALLC) with the original purpose of supporting the application of computing in the study of language and literature.

As the range of available and relevant computing techniques in the humanities increased, the interests of the association’s members have broadened substantially and encompass not only text analysis and language corpora, but also history, art history, music, manuscript studies, image processing and electronic editions. The association’s new name, which was adopted in 2012, reflects this significant widening of scope. Today the EADH’s mission is to represent European Digital Humanities across all disciplines.

L’Associazione per l’Informatica Umanistica e la Cultura Digitale è stata costituita a Firenze il 25 marzo 2011. Come indicato nello Statuto, l’Associazione intende promuovere e diffondere la riflessione metodologica e teorica, la collaborazione scientifica e lo sviluppo di pratiche, risorse e strumenti condivisi nel campo dell’informatica umanistica e nell’uso delle applicazioni digitali in tutte le aree delle scienze umane, nonché favorire inoltre la riflessione sui fondamenti umanistici delle metodologie informatiche e nel campo delle culture di rete. Il nome scelto per la nostra Associazione, frutto di un lungo dibattito, evidenzia la scelta di unire il termine tradizionalmente usato di Informatica Umanistica insieme a Cultura Digitale, a comprendere in modo aperto un ambito più vasto di quello dei settori disciplinari, che possa comprendere tutti gli interessati, incluso le istituzioni culturali (archivi, biblioteche e musei) che hanno un ruolo di supporto fondamentale alla ricerca ed alla didattica in ambito umanistico.
